As a photographer, a small portion of creating stunning images for clients is the actual photo taking and the larger portion is the editing. Although it takes skill to capture a good photo, it takes amazing editing skills to make it a truly great photo. Post-processing usually takes up hours of photographers\u2019 time, and it\u2019s even more important when you\u2019re a real estate photographer since your end goal is to convince buyers to choose the client\u2019s house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s take a look at editing tips to help you up to your editing skills and create stunning images for your clients!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adjust The Clarity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This can be tricky since you don\u2019t want to over saturate the image with clarity, but playing around with it until you reach what you think is a good medium. Adding clarity to an image will give it depth and give the image a crisper look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use Curves<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you use Photoshop then you\u2019ve probably already experienced the powerful magic of curves for your photos. This tool is used to correct colors and other important areas of your image. However, if you haven\u2019t used this tool before it can take some time and practice to master using it just right. We suggest messing around with this feature and getting comfortable using it before using it on client\u2019s photos!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hue and Saturation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another helpful feature that you can use for editing photos is to adjust the hue and saturation in your photos. Although similar to using Curves in photoshops, adjusting your hue and saturation is especially helpful with landscaping photos. Once again, it\u2019s important that you don\u2019t over saturate the photo. Start easy until you get comfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember That You Want It Natural<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You want your photos to still be natural, even with editing. This is one of the most important tips that we can give real estate photographers; keep it natural, always. Editing a photo is an important part of the process, but over-editing can be equally dangerous as not doing any editing  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

at all. Your client shouldn\u2019t be able to tell that there was drastic editing done on your end and neither should buyers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edit Your Photos In Big Batches<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019ll be easier on your end if you edit your photos in batches. This is usually convenient when you take a bunch of photos of one home and then you can edit them all directly in Lightroom together. This will save you a lot of time instead of editing each photo individually and you can always go back and edit photos separately if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adjust The Lighting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of a photographer\u2019s most difficult challenges with photographing is the lighting. With real estate photography, you\u2019re capturing interior and exterior photos, both areas that can have a lot of issues with shadows and lighting. You can use Lightroom to adjust the lighting by adjusting shadows and highlights. However, it\u2019s important to find a middle ground with this.
